“Stuttgart, an exciting city with plenty of space for relaxing.”
Hop on! Come and discover Stuttgart!
As official tourism partner of the state capital of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH pursues both national and international activities on behalf of the city. We are represented at all the important trade fairs of the tourism industry, and cooperate with holiday tour operators and bus companies in order to attract visitors to Stuttgart. A visit is always worthwhile. The state theatres are cultural showpieces of the city. The superb Stuttgart orchestras get just the right tone, and the Weissenhof community, built by notable architects such as Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius, is a milestone in urban architecture. The buildings provide a fascinating contrast to the six Stuttgart castles, of which particularly the Old Castle and the New Castle lend special character to the city’s downtown landscape. The Castle Square and Castle Garden form the backdrop for the city’s elegant Summer Festival. Towards the end of August, in the shade of the Old Castle, the popular Stuttgart Wine Village is set up, one arbour bower after another. At the same spot only a few months later appears the Stuttgart Christmas Market, one of the largest and most beautiful in all of Germany. And then there are the huge public festivals such as the Stuttgart Beer Festival (Cannstatter Volksfest), which regularly attracts some four million visitors. Two new touristic attractions make visiting Stuttgart even more attractive: a Hop-on/Hop-off bus connects places of interest in the city with two tours since April 2011. In addition we have launched the “strong double active” deal with our transportation partners VVS and DEHOGA. Many hotel reservations booked via Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH include a free ticket for using the public urban transport system, so that guests can be mobile within Stuttgart and the region for up to eight days. This offer provides the best prerequisites for exploring our beautiful city.

Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach developed the first automobile in a small Stuttgart workshop 125 years ago, a birthday amply celebrated this year. The “Automobile Year 2011” is an outstanding
opportunity to show a broad public what Stuttgart has to offer: a highly diversified cultural landscape, Mediterranean flair, picturesque vineyards, traditional festivals and superb food. The region boasts a multitude of cultural and sport events, castles and ancient fortresses, and award-winning state opera and ballet companies of international acclaim.
When we talk about Stuttgart as a destination, we cannot avoid the topic of cars. The automobile is Stuttgart’s unique selling point and motor. It not only ensures economic drive, but also a steady flow of tourists. The Mercedes-Benz Museum is the most popular excursion destination, and with 650,000 visitors a year the most frequently visited museum in Stuttgart. The Porsche Museum has exceeded all expectations within only two years, and has also advanced to being a touristic highlight in the area, rarely missed by tourists coming to the state capital.
The overnight accommodation figures confirm the enthusiasm for Stuttgart: they exceeded the 2.5 million mark in 2010. Day guests amount to some 40 million visitors per year. A majority of them are business travellers; Stuttgart has established itself not only as a touristic destination, but also as a top trade-fair and congress metropolis. The leading economic and scientific metropolis Stuttgart has become a popular location for congress planners thanks to a multitude of congress facilities, its central location in the heart of Europe and good transportation infrastructure. Tradition and innovation provide a unique and dramatic interplay. Stuttgart is in demand because it has a great deal to offer. But for us that is no reason to downshift. On the contrary. Enhancing Stuttgart’s position as a touristic destination and congress venue is what is driving us. This is our motor.
